Your Child Starting Year 7
We are delighted that your child will be joining us in September and we are keen to ensure that they settle in quickly to secondary school life.
We have a structured induction process in July that has worked well for a number of years. Your children will have the chance to meet their new tutors and get to know children from a range of primary schools. We want each and every one of our students to be happy here and to do well. For this reason we believe that the support children receive is crucial, particularly in their first term. Mrs Shephard, Year Leader for Year 7, has great experience in liaising with primary schools to ensure that we know as much as possible about your child in order to help them settle in as quickly as possible.
You will have had the opportunity to visit Bicester Community College at our Open Evening (if you were unable to attend, we can always arrange individual visits) and in July you and your child will have the opportunity to visit the College to meet the form tutors, other students and members of the Student Council who act as befrienders to the new students. You will also be receiving a Welcome Pack full of useful tips and information for starting in September. This year Year 6 Transfer Evening is on Tuesday 7th July, starting at 6.00pm in the Lower School Hall.
