Sponsoring college awards
Each year we reward our students for their outstanding achievements. We have two annual events: The Sports Award Evening and the Year 11 Presentation Evening for Academic Performance.
Local companies including: Bicester Village, Fresh Direct, Grayline Coaches, Morley’s, Bakels, Mantons, Cole’s Bookstore and Oxford University Press, contribute prizes for these awards which are gratefully received by our students and mean much to the College community.
We would like to be able to have more awards evenings where we can offer subject-linked prizes to other groups of deserving students. We would welcome offers of support from other companies to make this possible and we could name a specific award after your company.
Work experience
We actively encourage all our students to complete work experience weeks where they have the opportunity to develop knowledge and understanding of the structure and functions of employing organizations and to consider their future transition from school to adult working life.
Through work experience our students gain a clearer understanding of the relevance and application of school subjects to the workplace. This increases their motivation to improve their own educational achievement and broadens their career vision and planning.
Many local companies support our College by offering our students work experience opportunities and we are very grateful to them.. If you think your company would like to offer our students work experience, please contact Lesley Brady or Alison Pexton
The rewards shop
Our students work hard, behaving well and try their best. We like to reward our students for their high standards and hard work in lessons by giving them reward stamps. These reward stamps are stuck into their planners and when they have collected enough of them, students can buy items from the Rewards Shop.
In the past companies have donated stationery: pens, pencils, erasers, notepads etc. We would be grateful to receive any of these items or perhaps corporate gifts you have received that you do not have a use for: calculators, mini radios, clocks, stress balls, tickets for sporting events etc. The reward gifts act as a terrific incentive to our students and everything donated is much appreciated.
Donating expertise
Our College has a broad curriculum of subjects on offer to our students. It is always excellent inspiration for our students to meet people who are working in these subject areas and who can share an insight into the way they work and their specific expertise.
Some students have been able to visit local companies such as BGP and others have met company representatives when they have visited the College to present to the students ( Distinct Solutions has worked closely with our Performing Arts Department, Bicester Village ran a seminar on Travel & Tourism for students and Webmart presented a session on marketing).
Fresh Direct, Lucozade, Lighterlife and the Bicester Leisure Centre have recently supported our new ‘Get Fit - Get Healthy’ initiative (for non-sporty students) with their expertise. It’s proving so successful we are hoping to roll it out in to the Bicester community for adults after Christmas.
Donating unwanted items
In a College of our size there is always a need for furniture, shelving and general items which could be used towards the general upkeep of the classrooms. You would probably be surprised at how many of your business’ unwanted items we could make excellent use of.
Some local companies, including Morley’s, donate unwanted furniture items to us, which have made a significant difference to our students and staff over the years. If we cannot make good use of donated furniture items, we in turn donate them to local charities.
If you have any unwanted items or materials left over after one of your projects, please call us first!
SchoolFORCE
Twice a year we organise a College SchoolFORCE event, when students, staff and members of the community join forces to spruce up the extensive College grounds.
Local companies including: Wickes, Homebase, Jewsons, Bicester Village, Inside Out, Continental Landscapes and the Wyevale Garden Centre have made generous donations over the years. Bicester Green Gym and staff from other local companies have also been generous in lending us their gardening and painting expertise and specialist equipment.
There is still much that we would like to achieve and we would be grateful for any type of donation your business or staff could make.
The College fund
Sadly government funding for education is not generous; there are many hidden expenses and frequently initiatives which schools are expected to undertake with little or no additional funding.
We run two minibuses used for a wide range of activities and sporting events which are also loaned to primary schools and community groups. Your contributions to the fund will help towards keeping these on the road.
The College Fund is also used to ensure that all students have equal opportunities to take part in school activities, making certain that students whose families cannot fully fund school visits can take part. It also subsidises some College activities and the costs of visits, external speakers and workshops.
We would be very grateful for any donation you feel appropriate.
