Parent Council
Do you feel that you have lost touch now that your children have left primary school?
Do you want to give the College advice on policy and practice?
YES – then why not join the Parent Council? This is your chance to get involved in all aspects of College life and let your voice be heard.
We meet six times during the College year (Monday evenings). The meetings are chaired by a Parent Governor and Ms Jane Causon, the acting headteacher is present.
We never discuss individual students and our meetings concern whole College issues. We give our opinions on all sorts of topics, such as College policies, health and safety issues, internet safety and fundraising. A short time ago we assisted with the productions of the parenting handbook and with the Ofsted feedback form.
Fundraising
One of our active roles is to support projects within the College. This year it is the turn of the Performing Arts Department to benefit from the funds we raise at College events. We can usually be found selling refreshments at the College productions, Parents Evenings and at the Year 6 Transfer Evening, where we also sell any donated second-hand uniform and childrens clothes (donations always very welcome!). We usually have a stall at the Christmas Lights switch on in Bicester town which is very popular.
Here are some comments from three Parent Council members –
“As a parent of three boys who are past and present students of BCC, I have found the Parent Council a great way to keep links with my children’s education.”
“You get to understand what’s really going on in the College.”
“I have two children at the College and I am a members of Parent Council because I feel it is my way of giving something back to the College as they try to do so much for the students.”
If reading this has inspired you to join us, or you would just like to ask us a question, please feel free to email a member of Parent Council (pc.4030@bicester-cc.oxon.sch.uk)
